Jesus Came to wash OUR feet

I have always struggled with loneliness. When I feel the presence of God it melts away but I have yet to figure out how to have that comfort all the time. On Friday morning as we were waiting for our teacher to come and speak, we were talking about how some of us were feeling weird. We received a text that informed us our teacher was not able to make it. Quickly we decided to spend that time praying for each other. This time turned into a three hour time of honesty and vulnerability. When it was my turn I grabbed the box of tissues and told the team to 'brace themselves'. I said everything on my mind, what makes me lonely, my fears, and my feelings of inadequacy. I really felt like a weight was lifted off by just getting it all out. I am in tears and this amazing team that I have been blessed with starts interceding and praying for me. I was so surprised and overwhelmed when they began to wash my feet. I was so touched and the things they were praying, I knew were straight from the heavens. Here are some of the things that I heard:
- I am a joy to be around.
- I am part of the biggest family, God's family.
- I am more than adequate to do God's work. I am never out of His way.
- I am beautiful.
- My feet are cleansed of the dust of those placed which I am not welcome.
- Keep one foot in the future, one foot in the present, and no feet in the past.
- I am never alone.
- I have been like a beekeeper and I have been wearing a protective suit to keep myself safe from others even though I really enjoy their sweetness. But the suit is from my past and I need to take it off. The bees will not harm me. I am safe in God.
Also, I felt that it was necessary to write a small profile of myself without depending on my past to describe me. Here it goes:
Hello. My name is Sarah Marie. Yes, I have a past but it is not how I live now. Now, I really enjoy good coffee and tea. I very much like to hang out with others in a quiet cafĂ© and also explore new towns where there are old buildings and aesthetically pleasing scenes that I can capture on film. I sometimes like to journal and write in my blog about my life as a missionary. Since I wasn't always a missionary, I like to reach out to others and share my story and live missionally visiting institutions, busy tourist areas and areas of town that are not appreciated as they should be. I like to love and care for others as much as I can. I can also be a little stubborn and blunt. I believe these things can be used in good ways. I like tattoos and crazy hair(like my own). I listen to a lot of funk and electronic music when I am not listening to bluegrass worship. I enjoy people who are spontaneous and enjoy having me along. I love gifts and notes as much as I love giving them. My life is centered around Jesus who died for my sins. I am always learning more about the world around me and myself. I like to learn and plan on doing so until I die. I have a heart for cities and the people in them. Thank you for  reading.
Sarah Marie
